Abstract

It is my intention to draw connections between the unresolved emotional themes in a client's life that are experienced as traumatic events and the paralleling similarities in autoimmune and other medically untreatable disorders. The fact that not all individuals who have had extremely challenging emotional experiences have medical conditions lends itself to the query of why some do and others do not. Science suggests that some autoimmune disorders may have a latent hereditary or genetic factor but even this has been debated. Whatever invisible factors are at work it is worthwhile for the body psychotherapist to discover the emotional and psychological factors that may interface with these evasive medical puzzles. This work outline stems out of case studies of clients I have worked with over twenty-five years. It is designed to stimulate inspiration and creative thought in the body psychotherapist who desires to explore and contribute to the possibilities of change in the progress or outcome of medically unbeatable conditions.
