Telesna psihoterapija je posebna grana u okviru psihoanalize i psihoanaliticke psihotherapia. Zasniva se na teorijama funkcionanalog jedinstva psihe i tela,pri cemu se telo shvata kao celukupna licnost. Koristi razvojni model, teoriju licnosti, hipoteze o poreklu poremecaja i promena, kao i bogate i raznovrsne dijagnosticke i terapijske tehnike koje se upotrebljavaju u terapijskom obnosu.
Telesna psihoterapija je i nauka koja se razvila u poslednjih sedamdeset godina na bazi rezultata istra zivanja u biologiji, neurofisiologiji, razvojnoj, psihologiji, neonatalogi, prenatalnim, studijama, anthropologiji i mnogim drugim disciplinama.
