Abstract

This blog presents over a decade of qualitative research of exploring the origins of chronic physical illness from a somatic psychology perspective. It introduces a Chronic Illness Model that looks at the role of trauma, bonding and attachment in shaping nervous system patterns of regulation and affecting risk for chronic illness such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue and fibroymyalgia, lupus, asthma, type 1 diabetes and others.
The blog also describes my personal experience with ongoing chronic fatigue, somatic psychology approaches I've been using to work with it and uncover patterns, as well as other treatment modalities and observations along the way.
