Using microanalytic analysis of videos their interaction, Dr Tronick discusses how both the parent and the child co-create the development of expanded states of consciousness that lead to growth and development. His research concludes that development is a joint activity by which both participants become both more complex and coherent during 'moments of meeting'. The implications for therapy will be part of the discussion with a panel of seasoned Body Psychotherapists and they consider how processes in adult therapy that attends to such intimate contact facilitates here-and-how change in our clients, and the unique position Body Psychotherapy may be in to facilitate this developmental process.
