Research shows that many people with acknowledged pathology or disability report a sense of well-being. This presentation, largely didactic with Q&A, explored the neurobiological and psychobiological processes associated with self-perceived health in the face of physical distress. Emphasis was on empirical studies and recent research on changing brain chemistry through psychological and behavioral modalities.
